SDLC PCI

SDLC was developed by IBM in the 1970ies as part of SNA. It supports synchronous, bit-oriented transmissions on WAN links. SDLC was proposed for standardization; results are:

> ISO derived HDLC from SDLC.
> CCITT derived LAPB from HDLC.
> IEEE derived LLC from HDLC.

SDLC, HDLC, and LLC share the same control field codes.
