Length: 1 byte

Contents: DTE and DCE identifier.

The address field is always 8 bits in length; an extension is not possible.

Because LAPB is used with point-to-point links, there are only two address codes:

01h = DTE > DCE (DTE to DCE)

03h = DTE < DCE (DCE to DTE)
