Field: discard eligibility

Length: 10-24 bits

Contents: indicates if a frame may be discarded.

If a frame handler (i.e. Frame Relay router) suffers from congestion, it will discard frames marked with DE=1 first.

The DE bit is set by Frame Relay network access nodes in case that a source station exceeds its CIR in order to mark the overhead frames.
