Configuration Report Server - CRS

Functional MAC address = C0 00 00 00 00 10

Changes in ring topology (change of NAUN address, change of active monitor) are reported to the configuration report server (CRS).

Configuration Report Server is a software function which may (or may not) be present at any ring station.

These messages sent to the CRS's functional address may occur:

Active Monitor Error

A standby monitor detects an active monitor error (no more AMP frames received).

New Active Monitor

After the former active monitor stopped operation, a new active monitor is designated via monitor contention process (claim token process). This will be reported to the CRS by the new active monitor.

NAUN Changes

Ring topology changed: a new station inserted into ring or another adapter stopped operation.

Ring Poll Failure

The ring poll process (NAUN process) could not be completed successfully.

Furthermore, the CRS may pass new parameter values to ring stations (the RPS does during the insertion process) or may urge ring stations to get off the ring (remove station MAC frame).

The CRS may change some parameter values that cannot be changed by the RPS:

- station address

- station state

- station attachments
