Ring errors cause that the active monitor will send a new token. Therefore, the active monitor urges all other ring station to stop transmission.
'Ring purge' MAC frames are sent under these conditions:
> token error
> monitor contention process (claim token process) results in a new active monitor
The active monitor must not wait for a free token for 'ring purge' MAC frame transmission.
