The 2-byte parameter type field indicate the funtion of the following paramter value field.

Byte 1:

Objekt-Gruppe, auf die sich der Parameter-Wert bezieht. Die SMT-Objekte sind in folgende Gruppen unterteilt:

0x00 SMT parameter (no object of FDDI MIB).

0x10 SMT objects of FDDI-MIB

0x20 MAC objects of FDDI-MIB

0x30 path objects of FDDI-MIB

0x40 port objects of FDDI-MIB

Byte 2:

Attribute related to object.
