FDDI Remnants
Each FDDI adapter has to strip its own frames off the ring as soon as they return after ring transmission.
FDDI may recognize their own MAC address not immediatly; sometimes they get lately aware of the fact that an incoming frame had been sent by themselves - and that they have to strip it off the ring.
In case of late recognition any FDDI adapter will strip anyway - which causes runt frames. These frames are called 'remnants'. Remnants are stripped by the next downstream FDDI adapter, then.
A remnant frame is a frame that wasn't stripped off the ring by the originating adapter completely but only partly.
